Now days there is all over the talks about Android. In this first post we will see what is android, on what base it is programmed.
Initially in 1997-2003, android was a website owned by an individual devoted to software devlopment and hardware sale, then it was owned by Larry Page and Sergey Brin owner of google and os of google was named on this site.
In 2007, many pundits were expressing disappointment that Google was only releasing an open-source mobile operating system rather than a smart phone of its own design to compete with Apple’s just-released first-generation iPhone. Less than three years later, Android has become one of the dominant players in the mobile operating system market, so much so that when Google finally did release a phone of its own, it was largely ignored in favor of other Android-based devices from Motorola and HTC. In this article we’ll take you back in time to trace the origins of the Android operating system and show how it rose rapidly to become one of the top operating systems in the mobile world.

1.5 (Cupcake)

Based on Linux Kernel 2.6.27 On 30 April 2009, the official 1.5 (Cupcake) update for Android was released.There were several new features and UI updates included in the 1.5 update.

• Ability to record and watch videos through camcorder mode
• Uploading videos to YouTube and pictures to Picasa directly from the phone
• A new soft-keyboard with text-prediction

Based on Linux Kernel 2.6.29, On 15 September 2009, the 1.6 (Donut) SDK was released

2.0/2.1 (Eclair)

Based on Linux Kernel 2.6.29, On 26 October 2009 the 2.0 (Eclair) SDK was released. Among the changes were.

• Optimized hardware speed
• Support for more screen sizes and resolutions
• Revamped UI
• New Browser UI and HTML5 support
• New contact lists
• Better white-black ratio for backgrounds
• Improved Google Maps 3.1.2
• Microsoft Exchange support
• Built in flash support for Camera

• MotionEvent class enhanced to track multi-touch events.
• Improved virtual keyboard
• Bluetooth 2.1
• Live Wallpapers

The 2.0.1 SDK was released on 3 December 2009.
The 2.1 SDK was released on 12 January 2010.

2.2 (Froyo)

Based on Linux Kernel 2.6.32[45] On 20 May 2010 the 2.2 Frozen Yogurt (Froyo) SDK was released.

2.3/ 2.3.3/2.3.4 (Gingerbread)

Based on Linux Kernel 2.6.35 Tentatively scheduled for Q4 2010 launch, and is already been released
